Biography of Ashley TisdaleIt’s hardly surprising that Ashley Tisdale loves to shop. After all, the West Deal, New Jersey native was first discovered in a mall when she was only three years old. "I was [there] with my mom" she recalls, "and this manager came up to us and asked if I wanted to be in commercials." The answer, of course, was an emphatic "yes," and Ashley was soon appearing in spots for big-name brands like J.C. Penney and T-Mobile. By the time she was 12, "Blondie" -- as she’s affectionately known -- had already toured the world as a leading cast member of Les Miserables and Annie.
Ashley’s stellar stage work paved the way for a plethora of film and television projects, and she got the ball rolling in 1997 with a guest-starring role in the Omar Gooding series, Smart Guy. Additional parts followed in top-rated TV shows like 7th Heaven, Beverly Hills 90210, Boston Public, Charmed starring Alyssa Milano, and The Hughleys. She also received parts in films, such as A Bug’s Life (1998) and Donnie Darko (2001).
Ashley finally had a chance to combine her singing and acting talents again in 2006, in the Disney made-for-TV movie, High School Musical. The glitzy production about two teens who are worlds apart proved to be a smash hit, and the film’s soundtrack went platinum just seven weeks after its release. Also in 2006, Ashley played Maddie Fitzpatrick on another Disney production, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
